2026 SUMMER SEASON
JUNE 15– AUGUST 6, 2026
(NO PRACTICE ON JULY 4th)
14 practices plus the League Championship Meet in August 2026
Meet Participation is Required – at least 2 of the meets for the summer.
Any swimmer who has never swum in a competition needs to have an evaluation before registering.
Wayside Waves Summer Swim Team is a competitive swim team. The Team will have a series of outdoor swim meets during June and July 2026 (some at Wayside, some at nearby Clubs). The date is TBD Full Meet schedule to come soon.
All registered swimmers are expected to swim in at least 2 meets during the summer season.
To be eligible for the team, swimmers must be able to meet certain skill requirements based on age.
Ages 5-10: must be able to swim at least one length of the pool (25 yards) in both the Freestyle (Front Crawl) and the Backstroke. We would like them to have some experience with the kicks for the Breaststroke and the Butterfly.
Ages 11-18: must be able to swim at least 2 lengths of the pool (50 yards) in both the Freestyle (Front Crawl) and the Backstroke, as well as have a basic understanding (though not perfection) of both Breaststroke and Butterfly, diving from a Diving Block, and turns for all four competitive strokes.
Swimmers age up on June 1st for the Summer Competitive Season.
ANY SWIMMER WHO HAS NEVER SWUM ON THE WAYSIDE WAVES COMPETITIVE SWIM TEAM BEFORE MUST TAKE A SWIM EVALUATION BEFORE REGISTERING FOR THE TEAM PROGRAM.
Required equipment: Short-style training swim fins, Goggles, a competitive-style swimsuit for practice, and a team swimsuit (purchase to be announced in a later email).
