Fall 2022 Swim Lessons
Wayside offers a skills-based, progressive swim program to help children succeed in becoming better swimmers. Whether your child is just starting to learn to swim or on their way to being a stronger swimmer, we have a program for them. Additionally, we offer adult lessons that are patient and encouraging for all levels of adult swim.
Our swim lessons are skill-appropriate, safe, small, professional, and FUN. Our lessons promote self-confidence by teaching and improving swimming skills, teaching safety skills in and around water environments, improving social skills, trust, and confidence in others, and developing positive, life-long recreational opportunities. Summer swim lessons will be offered at the indoor and outdoor pool based on levels. Lessons will also be offered 1x, 2x, and 4x times per week. We also offer private lessons for children and adults .

CLASS FORMAT
Parent-Child (ages 6 months – 3 years)
This program is designed for children to be accompanied by a parent or caregiver in the water. A one-to-one ratio, adult to child is required. Moms, Dads, or caregivers are taught to safely work with their child in the water using basic skills, including how to appropriately support and hold their child while in the pool. They are instructed on how to prepare and encourage their child to participate fully and to try new skills. Children are introduced to basic skills that lay the foundation for learning to swim in the future. Water safety topics are introduced and discussed with the parents and caregivers.

Preschool Beginner – Ages 2.9 – 5 years old
This class is for swimmers who are ready to swim without an adult. The class encourages participants to develop positive attitudes and safe practices in and around the water. Such as blowing bubbles, floating with assistance, and basic kicking and arm motion on the stomach and back. To progress to Preschool Advanced Beginner or level 2, swimmers must be comfortable in the water and demonstrate that they can swim on their own for a distance of 3-5 feet. This may be done while wearing a flotation device. The student must also be able to completely submerge their head.
REGISTER NOW PRE SCHOOL BEGINNER
Preschool Advanced Beginner – Ages 2.9 – 5 years old
This class is for swimmers who have accomplished preschool beginner skills. To progress to level 3, swimmers must be able to swim on their fronts and on their backs for about 12.5 yards (about ½ the length of the pool) without a flotation device, and when on their front, putting their face in the water at regular intervals. They must also be able to float on both their front and their back for 30 seconds without assistance.
REGISTER NOW PRE SCHOOL ADVANCED BEGINNER
Level 1 – Beginner (max 4 students, ages 3 & up)
This class introduces children to the aquatic environment and teaches them basic aquatic skills. The class encourages participants to develop positive attitudes and safe practices in and around the water. To progress to Level 2 (Advanced Beginner), swimmers must be comfortable in the water and demonstrate that they can swim on their own for a distance of 3-5 feet. This may be done while wearing a flotation device. The student must also be able to completely submerge their head.
REGISTER NOW LEVEL 1
Level 2 – Advanced Beginner (Max 4 students, ages 3 & up)
This level builds on and improves skills learned in Level 1. Water safety topics introduced in Level 1 are expanded. To progress to Level 3, swimmers must show they can swim on their backs and on their fronts for about 12.5 yards (about ½ the length of the pool) without a flotation device and when on their front, putting their face in the water at regular intervals. They must also be able to float on both their front and their back for 30 seconds.
REGISTER NOW LEVEL 2
Level 3 – Stroke Development (Max 6 students)
This level focuses on increasing swimming proficiency by building on the basic aquatic skills learned in Levels 1 and 2 helping the student achieve basic water competency. Diving is introduced. Water safety concepts are reviewed, and additional water safety topics are introduced. To progress to Level 4, swimmers must be able to swim at least one length of the pool in Front Crawl Stroke and Backstroke and Elementary Backstroke and have a basic understanding of how to perform a Butterfly, Breaststroke and Scissors kick. Students must be able to perform a standing forward dive from the side of the pool.
REGISTER NOW LEVEL 3
Level 4 – Stroke Improvement (Max 6 students)
This level focuses on increasing swimming proficiency by building on the basic aquatic skills learned in Levels 3 helping the student achieve basic water competency. Introduction to the breaststroke and butterfly 25 yards. Diving is reviewed. Water safety concepts are reviewed, and additional water safety topics are introduced. To progress to Level 5/6, swimmers must be able to swim at least two lengths of the pool in Front Crawl Stroke, Backstroke and Elementary Backstroke and have a basic understanding of how to perform a Butterfly and Breaststroke 25 yards. Students must be able to comfortably swim the distance of all basic strokes.
REGISTER NOW LEVEL 4
Level 5/6 – Swim Team Prep (Max 9 students)
In this 45 minute class, the swimmers will work on refining their performance of all six swimming strokes and prepares them for competitive swimming, including flip turns and diving from the block. If your swimmer is not quite ready for the swim team, this is the class for you!

12 month commitment
Available for students age 6 months -18 years of age.
This membership gives member pricing on swim programs only.
No other access to the club (i.e. lap swim, classes etc.)

SWIM LESSON POLICIES
All lessons are 30 minutes in length.
Parent-Child classes are for ages 6 months – to 3 years.
Level 1 – Beginner classes start at age 3yrs.
Level 2 – Advanced Beginner classes start at age 3yrs if the student meets the requirements.
Make-ups are not available.
In cases of thunderstorms or severe weather, if classes are canceled a single class credit will be given for future programs. Notifications will be given via email.
COVID MASK POLICY
Children ages 2 and older must wear a mask indoors until they enter the pool and put it on as they exit the building
