Winter Competitive Season
October 23, 2023 – March 14, 2024
WHAT TO EXPECT
This is a long-season combination of practices (filled with friends, fun. and hard work) and weekend meets sprinkled throughout the season (Usually 8 single-day meets that last no more than 4 hours – most done in less than 3 hours).
Wayside Waves take part in the Metro Swim League for the winter months. This league is made up of 10 area recreational, age-group swim teams. No USA Swimmers are allowed to swim for points on any team in this recreational league at this time. Swimmers are required to compete in 5 of the 8 dual meets during the season. The League hosts a Championship Meet at Boston University on March 9, 2024. We will have a team party on March 14, 2024 to complete the season.
The League will be holding a coaches’ meeting soon to determine meets for the calendar. Information will be sent as soon as we have it.
A swimmer’s age for this season is the age they are on November 1, 2023
Swimmers must still meet the minimum skill requirements for the team, therefore any swimmer who has never been a part of a competitive swim team before must have a swim evaluation completed by the Director/Head Coach prior to registration. Please contact

PRACTICE SCHEDULE
Ages 10 & Under: One Hour Practices Choice of 2 or 3 practices per week
Tuesday 6:00pm-7:00pm Wednesday 6:00-7:00pm &/or Sunday 2:00-3:00pm
Ages 11 -18: Intermediates – One Hour Practices Choice of 2,3,or 4 practices per week
Monday 6:00-7:00pm Tuesday 7:00-8:00pm Thursday 6:00-7:00 pm &/or Sunday 3:00-4:00 pm
Ages 12-18: Advanced -90 Minute practices (1.5 hours) Choice of 2,3, or 4 practices per week
- Swimmers must be invited to attend these practices – A list will be sent out shortly. If you have questions about your swimmer’s placement, please contact Head Coach/Director Sue Morse as soon as possible.
- Do not register for this group without permission.
Monday 7:00-8:30 pm Wednesday 7:00-8:30 pm Thursday 7:00-8:30 pm &/or Sunday 3:00-4:30 pm
All swimmers MUST practice with their age groups unless permission is given by Director
SPECIAL DATES
No practice on:
- 10/31 for Halloween
- 11/22 – 11/26 for Thanksgiving
- 12/24-1/1 School Holiday Break
- 2/18-2/25 School Winter Break
However, there WILL BE practice on 1/15/2024 Martin Luther King Jr Day
Price includes all practices, all meets & Championship Meet, team bathing cap, and award ribbons. Prices are calculated by the number of practices in the combination of nights chosen, therefore be careful to fully plan before making a practice combination choice.
