Hey Wayside! Meet Orlando 👋! He has been a racquetball member at Wayside Athletic Club for almost 6 years and we want to share his story!

Orlando has been playing racquetball since he was 14. He started competing in tournaments at the age of 18 all across the United States in local, regional, and national events. Early in his career at the age of 25, he was ranked in the top 10 in the country!

Today at age 49, he plays in leagues at Wayside Athletic Club and competes in tournaments all around the New England area.

You can find him practicing on the court at the club in the evenings working on his game. He enjoys playing racquetball because it’s great exercise and a way to stay in shape and burn calories. Anyone can play – it’s an easy sport to pick up and start playing, but as in all sports, it takes practice and determination to master it. As an athlete, he’s always learning for ways to better himself against the younger competition in the open division.

He competed in the New England Regionals in New Hampshire. Although he lost in the quarterfinals of the Open to the #1 player, he won the 25-45+ open age division.

He’s currently ranked 7th in Massachusetts, 125 nationally in the age group 45 division and 358 nationally in the open division. He’s sponsored by ProKennex Racquet Sports.
