Wayside Brings Seasoned and Professional New Staff On Board!

2 new, local hires and 1 internal promotion with over 70 combined years in fitness industry.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Doris Grandinetti as General Manager of Wayside Athletic Club. With over 25 years of experience in the fitness industry, Doris has held leading roles as a Fitness Coach, Head Fitness Trainer, General Manager and Regional Vice President of several national health club organizations. She has successfully operated and managed everything from boutique fitness studios to large national chains such as Bally’s, and Chicago Health and Fitness and is known for her inspirational leadership style and as a true mentor to her staff. Doris expanded her core business background and began a career in the Executive Search business.  She successfully opened and operated a private search firm, specializing in the medical, healthcare and bioscience fields, which quickly became one of the leading search firms nationwide.

Her dedication to health and fitness has been a lifelong passion and way of life and as former Wayside Athletic Club member, Doris has a personal interest in seeing Wayside succeed as the leading full service club in the MetroWest area. “As a former member and local resident I am elated to be back at Wayside and it is my intention to inspire and manage a leading team and to see the club grow to its fullest potential.”

Doris will leverage both her management as well as fitness industry skills to oversee all club operations, continue to improve the facility and grow additional programming. “With Doris’ background in the fitness industry and experience in being a successful leader, we are confident that she will continue her track record at Wayside Athletic Club,” said Paul Birch, President. The entire staff is thrilled to have her join the Wayside community.

We are so excited to welcome our new Aquatics Director, Susan Morse. Sue began her aquatics career at the age of 16 as a certified Red Cross lifeguard and has been involved in aquatics in the MetroWest area for the past 26 years. Sue has extensive experience at full-service clubs including the YMCA, The Longfellow Clubs, Weston Recreation Department, and most recently, the Wayland Community Pool. In addition to coaching various swim teams in the area, she has also taught Water Fitness classes and also brings a special talent to Wayside –she has taught swim lessons to physically, mentally and language challenged people as well as to babies as young as 6 months old to adults 80 years young!

Sue holds many certifications including American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, WSI, Lifeguarding Instructor, American Swim Coaches Association Level 2 Coaches Certification USA Swimming and National Swimming Pool Foundation Certified Pool/Spa Operator. We are confident that Sue’s passion, knowledge and expertise will bring great improvements to the entire aquatics program at Wayside.

We are proud to announce that Jeanine Ruffing, who has been at Wayside Athletic Club for over 15 years, has been promoted to Fitness Director. A group exercise instructor since 1991, Jeanine will now oversee the entire Fitness Department including Personal Training, Group Exercise and Cycle.
