Wayside Athletic Club offers exciting badminton classes for juniors of all ages and skill levels, from 5 to 22! Whether you’re just starting or looking to improve your game, we have a class for you. Beginners can learn the basics like swings, footwork, and rules, while more experienced players can refine their skills and take their game to the next level. This is the introductory course for the youngest students who want to start learning badminton.
In this course, students will learn the fundamentals that will be critical for moving forward. Students from our beginner classes continue into the intermediate class with the coach’s recommendation.

FLEDGLINGS
In this course, students will work on improving their shots, footwork, physical endurance, and sportsmanship.
This level has a minimum of 2 classes per week and a maximum of 4 classes per week. With the coach’s recommendation, students can graduate into Team levels depending on their age and commitment levels.

Students graduate into this class from Sparrowhawks and Ospreys
This class is designed to prepare students for national and international competitions in both Junior and Adult categories.
This level has a minimum of 4 classes per week.

Children ages 13 and up
This program is for those who wish to pursue badminton as an elective sport in school and maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.
This level has a minimum of 2 classes per week.

HIGH SCHOOL/COLLEGE
This class is for students ages 14+.
Participants must be enrolled in a high school or college at the time of registration.
An all-levels class designed to teach students the basics of gameplay. This class is geared towards helping players prepare for high school and collegiate badminton competitions.

HELLOBIRDIE BADMINTON PROGRAM POLICIES
I CLASS
A. Registrations
- A Wayside account is required. Membership is not required.
- Beginner, intermediate, and high school group students will register through the Wayside Portal.
- Competitive team students will have the opportunity to register via a google form to mark off any dates they plan to be away due to
- Students can sign up at any point in the session and get a pro-rated session fee.
- They will need an account and a member of the staff will have to register the student to pro-rate it.
- All tuition and fees must be paid prior to the start of the
- All sales final. There is no transfer of credits unless there is a valid doctor’s note.
B. Schedules
- Classes run from September to June, closely following the public-school year calendar.
- The year will be split into three (3) sessions – fall, winter, and spring. Duration of each session will be determined by HelloBirdie Coaches and the Badminton Director.
- Scheduled no class dates will be determined based on Public School holidays and tournament schedules.
- These classes are not included in the tuition so students will not need to have make-up classes for these.
C. Class Cancellations
- Cancellations due to instructor or Wayside matters will be rescheduled or credited back to the students’s Wayside account.
- There is no cash value
D. Student Cancellations and Make-ups
- Students and/parents are responsible for informing HelloBirdie Badminton staff via email/text that they will be missing class 24 hours before class to get a make up class.
- In the event of a sickness, please email or text HelloBirdie before the start of class
- Make up classes must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance
E. Injury and credits
- Injuries with a doctor’s note indicating: 2nd degree sprains and up, hospitalizations, bone breaks and fractures, and surgeries will be required to get Wayside credits back for classes.
- Must be a note from a doctor or hospital located within the US
F. TEAM POLICIES

Students in the Team level groups are not allowed to go to other coaches and academies within Massachusetts.

Students who do not uphold player conduct during training will be removed from training for the day with no chance for make-ups or credit back.

Students in or who wish to be in the Falcons, Sparrowhawks, and Golden Ospreys have a physical standard to achieve in order to qualify. They will be regularly tested during the session and if they cannot meet the standards, they will be bumped down.
II. WINTER/SPRING/SUMMER VACATION PROGRAMS/CLINICS
A. Registrations
- A Wayside account is Membership is not required.
- Tuition is due prior to the start of the program/clinic.
B. Schedules
- Schedules will be determined based on Public School holidays and tournament schedules.
- These programs/clinics are not included in the tuition

JR BADMINTON MEMBERSHIP
This membership gives member pricing on badminton programs, and lessons and allows open play.
12-month commitment
Available for students ages 5 to 18.
No other access to the club (i.e. fitness room, indoor & outdoor pool, exercise classes, etc.)
