March 4th was an amazing day at Wayside Athletic Club.  For some it was a regular Sunday, but upstairs in the cycle studio, 33 riders participated in the 2018 Pedal to End Cancer. Together, these 33 riders raised $22,570.77 for the American Cancer Society!

Over the past 14 years, Wayside Athletic club has raised over $255,000 through this event!   Community Development Director for the American Cancer Society, Louise Santosuosso, was on site to recognize Wayside for its incredible fundraising contributions through the years! Wayside was presented with a framed certificate that will be displayed in the cycle studio.

There are too many highlights from the day to share, but here are a few that contributed to making the event so special!  We were honored to have survivors Samantha, Debra and Barbara with us this year!  We had 3 children participate this year, which was wonderful to see.  Many family members joined us to cheer on the riders.  Riders added to a Wall of Hope to share why they were riding and who they were riding for.  Six amazing cycling instructors volunteered to teach during the event.  They brought awesome music and tons of enthusiasm to motivate the riders through out the three-hour ride. Our top fundraiser Denise Howard, raised $5,310!!!  Truly amazing.

We are incredibly proud of what we have accomplished and feel confident that we have made a difference in the fight against cancer.  A big thank you to all those who helped make this event possible, from our instructors and riders, to those who donated to the cause, and to those who helped out behind the scenes. This event is a true team effort and we are so thankful for everyone’s support.  Congratulations to each of the riders for their fundraising and pedaling power.  Together, we are working to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays!
