Have you tried our group exercise class STRONG?

Even if you haven’t tried it, you’ve probably heard the hype about high-intensity interval training (HIIT), which alternates short bursts of vigorous exercise with brief periods of active recovery (slower pace exercises). HIIT is a great workout that allows you to burn more calories and push your heart rate more than you would with steady-state exercise, boosting your overall aerobic capacity.

That’s why we STRONG. STRONG puts a unique spin on HIIT exercises by syncing the moves to music. So what sets STRONG apart from other HIIT and group exercise classes available? Well, music is at the heart of these classes. The classes incorporate high intensity moves synced to music, so every punch, kick and squat you do has a coinciding sound, motivating you to push yourself to your limits.

In addition to being a super fun and engaging workout, STRONG and other HIIT also have some some great health benefits:

YOU’LL BURN MORE FAT – Not only do you burn more calories, but you burn more fat and calories in the 24 hours after a HIIT workout than you do after a steady-pace workout.

YOU’LL BUILD A HEALTHIER HEART – Researchers found that after 8 weeks of doing HIIT workouts, subjects could bicycle twice as long as they could before the study, while maintaining the same pace.

THERE’S NO EQUIPMENT NECESSARY –  You will burn calories while toning your arms, legs, abs and glutes with plyometric or explosive moves interchanged with isometric moves like lunges, squats with no equipment necessary!

YOU LOSE WEIGHT, NOT MUSCLE – While steady state cardio seems to encourage muscle loss, studies show that both weight training and HIIT workouts allow you to preserve hard-earned muscles while ensuring most of the weight loss comes from fat stores. Win and win!

YOU’LL INCREASE YOUR METABOLISM – In addition to increased fat burning and more muscle preserved, HIIT stimulates production of your human growth hormone (HGH) during the 24 hours after you finish your workout. This is great news since HGH is not only responsible for increased caloric burn but also slows down the aging process, making you younger both inside and out!

Ready to give this class a try? It’s offered on Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30pm with Kathy Fuentes.
