The mission of the Wayside Athletic Club Junior Lifeguard program is to empower young individuals with essential first aid and lifesaving expertise while cultivating the future lifeguards and leaders of tomorrow. The program emphasizes honing swimming capabilities alongside lifesaving techniques. Participants will engage in hands-on learning, covering in-water rescues, CPR, and First Aid proficiency, as well as familiarization with lifeguarding equipment.
They’ll shadow certified lifeguards, assist swim instructors, and partake in low-level class support. Beyond skills development, our initiative aims to instill self-assurance, teamwork, and leadership qualities. Junior Guards will actively engage in lifeguarding fundamentals through immersive demonstrations, skill-building activities, and simulated rescue scenarios. Geared towards 11 to 14-year-olds, this program serves as a cornerstone for future lifeguards, equipping them not only with lifesaving competencies but also with invaluable life skills for the journey ahead.
